when the saints go marching in

yesterday Pope Benedict canonised Mary (of the cross) McKillop as Australia’s fist saint.  i suspect more people watched the replay of the drawn footy match between Collingwood and St. Kilda which isn’t surprising given the Catholic church’s track record for sexual abuse, the popularity of the AFL and the  predominance of the Anglican faith in the nation.
